In 2012, having worked in a variety of jobs, including plumber, carpet fitter and pub licensee, I started J Austwick Film, my own company, making wedding, music, school, event and corporate videos.

Keen to indulge my passion for filmmaking more widely I joined a local club, Sutton Coldfield Movie Makers, and turned my hand to writing, directing, editing and acting in short films.

Then in 2015 my wife and I co-wrote a book about the premature birth of our twin daughters called “Amber’s Donkey” published by Random House.

Since 2018 I’ve had numerous festival successes in differing roles, mainly directing and editing, with a number of short films including ‘Friends’, ‘The Wand’, ‘Flotsam’, ‘Justice’, ‘Gemma’s War’, and ‘The Studio’, a sitcom pilot for a six-episode web series.

In 2020 I took on the role of Head of Production at Bader Media Entertainment CIC and was heavily involved in the ‘Thrash The Trash’ series, the set up of the ‘Skills Workshop’ films and was Director Of Photography and Executive Producer for the company’s first feature production ‘The Shimian’, which is now available to watch on Amazon Prime and other streaming sites.

I left my role with Bader in early 2023 to continue work on an original feature documentary ‘Burlesquercise UK - Dancing Dirty or Female Empowerment’ which is my first feature production for J Austwick Film and is currently on a festival run since it was finished in July 2023.

My latest directing project is ‘Forgotten’, a short film about missing pilots from The Battle Of Britain, which is about to start its festival run. I’ve also just finished as DOP on a short psychological horror called ‘False’, which is now in post production.

As for the future, currently writing and pre-production work is underway on more J Austwick Film projects - a comedy/drama feature about a group of disabled teens called ‘The D-Team’, a pilot episode of a comedy series with the working title of ‘Brian’s Gigs’, a comedy/drama feature, working
title ‘Tassles’, which I’ve dubbed as a female version of the Full Monty and a pilot for a high concept tv drama series called ‘Belief’.
